Amazon has ordered a pilot for another YA series, Hot Pink. The news comes with Sarah Michelle Gellar joining the series in a lead role.
Amazon is continuing its push into the YA space. It’s certainly seen success with The Wilds and the streamer has Panic coming up soon. The latest addition is Hot Pink, according to Deadline.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the series in a lead role. Because of that, Amazon has ordered the Hot Pink pilot. This show isn’t yet ordered to series yet, but ordering to pilot is certainly a positive sign.
While Gellar has joined the headline the series, she won’t be the main character. That is if the show follows the book Hot Pink is based on, What Girls Are Made Of by Elana K. Arnold.
What is Hot Pink about?
The series will follow the novel What Girls Are Made Of. The story is told through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl, giving us a coming-of-age story.
The life of a teenager is a messy one. It’s knotted, it’s emotional, and it’s wild. All of that is shown through the novel, and it’s sure to offer the same story throughout the series. The big question throughout is, “is this what love is?”
Female characters are allowed to be flawed and are allowed to share their emotions, and it’s time more TV shows and movies offer that.
There are no details about who Gellar will play in the series. There are a few adult characters who help to shape 16-year-old Nina’s life.
